About

Depth Psychotherapist

Jaclyn is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist PSY27879 who specializes in depth psychology which is a unique approach to therapy that integrates more than just thoughts and feelings. Depth psychology centers on the belief that effective psychological treatment must also attend to the soul and forces that are outside of our conscious awareness (e.g. dreams, synchronicity, defense mechanisms, myth, slips of the tongue, and the collective unification all humans). Depth psychology recognizes that the therapeutic relationship is a shared space where both client and clinician are transformed. Similarly, there is recognition that family of origin difficulties often underlie how we interact and relate with people as adults. Additionally, psychotherapy from a depth perspective requires the deconstruction of socio-cultural-political-economic influences as these influences are often oppressive and cause suffering in the individual. Jaclyn believes that in order to heal, clients need a safe space that is free of both judgment and shame. Jaclyn has strong values centered in the following philosophies and ideologies: humanitarianism, social advocacy/justice, cultural humility, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Artwork credit: P.
